Paper Yolk is a creative studio offering visual communication design services to small businesses in Sydney.
Challenge: To help the start-up agency stand out competitively amongst surrounding competitors in Sydney that had a larger portfolio of work.
Without any previous brand identity, the design process started from scratch on a blank page with the following requirement; the new brand identity had to reflect the studio’s work process and motto:
Work process: Design solutions are best brought to life on paper.
Motto: Comfort. Playfulness. Usability.
A bold and ‘cool’ identity was established for the studio. The new identity exhibits a strong and playful character that distinguishes it from creative studios that are more traditionally structured or boasts more years of experience. Paper Yolk wanted to call out to its clients as a team that you can always trust to be resilient and young at heart.
From this, a brand style guide and designs for print, stationery and merchandise were created.
The business card became one of the main advertising strategies; designed to call out to potential clients by listing design services that they might need for their business.
A website was also built to showcase the studio’s portfolio and act as a contact platform for business clients to request for design services.
The initial process included research into the user requirements. One of the fulfilments were to enable clients to submit their project brief with the least amount of effort and stress where possible. This resulted in a significant increase in client flow. Another execution was to have the contact form auto-generate a structured design brief for the studio based on the user’s submitted responses.
Interface mock-ups for testing were built using Adobe XD, and UX & UI analysis were conducted through surveys and first-hand interactive interviews. Research and development is still ongoing as the project is continually updated to respond to user needs.
