     third party integrated devices
As the lead UI/UX Designer, I worked closely with my team to optimise the end-to-end KASTA experience for stakeholders and end-users; from a property project manager creating a KASTA design, to an installer installing KASTA into a home, to a homeowner controlling and automating their smart home - the ultimate goal was to make this all simple and seamless to do.
One of the major stakeholder pain points was the high level learning curve required for installers to install and configure a KASTA smart home using the KASTA app. It was observed that the install process was cumbersome and complex, and that some sort of guidance was needed to help installers correctly complete a project.
A solution was created by restructuring the whole install workflow and creating a more intuitive setup system in the KASTA app. This included a step-by-step wizard within the app to guide the installer through every stage of their setup workflow.
Another existing pain point was found in the app’s navigational structure and visual interface. The app was built around an industrial-like structure with highly technical functionalities, purposely for technicians to connect smart devices within a home. This gave a rather arduous experience for the day-to-day homeowner end-users to control their home.
A whole new navigational structure was therefore designed to allow end-users to intuitively organise, locate and control their home devices. The app was also separated into two view options; an ‘Install & Setup’ view and a ‘Control’ view, where each view would cater for each different user type.
Quick iterative sketches, workflow diagrams, and low-fidelity to high-fidelity working prototypes were created to support all stages of the workflow process including stakeholder and client review, user testing and final product development.
Most user testing was conducted via first-hand user observation where we were able to receive immediate direct feedback from our stakeholders and end-users. This sometimes involved going on-site to observe how our users use and react to our product.
All work was executed in collaboration with the greater team at KASTA and Haneco Lighting
